We’ll also meet a Dutch woman campaigning for world peace by 2014, and find out why people in Berlin are paying for art that - quite literally - hurts.

    Photographer Eric Mirbach, 28, has an unusual specialty: skateboarders. He says he got into the profession because he loved the skating scene - but wasn't that good at it himself. Here, German skater and designer Ben Wes is seen doing the 'push' in Brooklyn, New York.

    Kevin Wenzke is the new German wunderkind when it comes to transitions. He can skate anything round - from mini-ramps to backyard pools to full-blown vertical spots. Eric Mirbach took this shot in Krefeld, Germany.

    Phil Zwijsen and Eric Mirbach traveled to Havanna's only skate park. With a storm on its way, the skateboarder and photographer had to hurry. But the blunt to fakie is one of Zwijsen's signature moves, so it didn't take him long to do a good one.

    While trying a boardslide pop-over on this well-known rail in Brooklyn, New York, Felix Lensing underestimated the roughness of the concrete. When he missed, he ended up with a bloody, dirty elbow, cut so deep it was white. Next stop for Lensing and Mirbach: the closest pharmacy.

    DC Shoes sent up-and-coming skater Fabian Lang and Mirbach to Miami for this shoot. In preparing for the trip, Mirbach found out about this location with an unbeatable view of downtown Miami. Lang matched the view with his quality moves.

    Also in Miami, Lang and Mirbach had to visit this location several times to get a good shot. It's part of an open-air stage next to the stadium of the Heat, Miami's pro basketball team. The two had to sneak into the park because there is 24-hour surveillance by security guards - but they said it was worth the risk.

    Mirbach accompanied skater Erik Gross to Lisbon for this photo, which turned out despite bad luck with the weather. Mirbach says Gross, a Dresden local, is so easy-going that the day would have been fun even if they hadn't come away with any good shots.

    Mirbach has been working with skater Stephan Günther for the past two years as part of a bigger project for Monster Skateboard Magazine. This shot with one-of-a-kind light conditions was taken on the outskirts of Queens in New York.
